{Vintage Fabric Patchwork Quilt}

IMG_5531-2

OH!! HI THERE!! :) Thought I fell off the planet did you?? Well, kinda,... a little, maybe? I've been moving, painting, visiting with family, furniture hunting (on a budget) and SEWING. :) This is a pretty little quilt I made just for the heck of it. It's made from a stack of charm squares that I won from a little giveaway on Miss Rose Hip's blog. If you haven't checked it out,... do, you won't regret it, her pictures and creations are so beautiful!

I went strictly patchwork with this one. After I had all the squares together it was a bit small so I hunted down some more (larger) vintage fabrics (sheets) from thrift stores for some sashing and backing. I like the result.

This is the first straight line quilting I have attempted since this debacle. I did draw out straight lines and used the walking foot and everything turned out just perfect.

Looks like a nice little picnic blanket doesn't it?? So,... I've been in Texas now for about 5ish weeks, the Mr. is still in Baltimore and I am about to meet up with him there this week to get our house packed up and headed out this way. He will be joining me here at the beginning of April when we will move into our temporary home here in DFW. (did I mention that he is doing the 23 hour drive AGAIN??? ALONE??? Well,... with TWO DOGS??? Good luck with that!) ;) I also have a couple photo shoots and a BABY SHOWER while I'm in Maryland! Yay! I wonder what kind of cool stuff my little guy is going to get! I can't wait to see my man and my friends and family in Baltimore again!

Stay tuned for a little baby boy quilt! :)

{Brothers}

My husband said he was fine with me posting these pictures,.... I wonder how his brother will feel about it???? hee hee. The one above is my favorite. We are still trying to figure out what Tom(in the blue suit on the left) is dressed as.... any guesses from you guys???

Obviously,... Batman and Robin below. I believe they were the dynamic duo for Halloween several years.

This is Christmas time. LOOOOOOOVE the sailor suits. I wonder if his mother still has those.......

Easter, another wonderful suit choice. MY mother actually has a picture of me and my two brothers when we were very young on her WALL (still) and my brothers had on these exact same suits.
This was 1999. They are so cute. :)

Matt(left) is getting married this weekend to a wonderful woman, can't wait to party! Congrats to Matt & Jess!!

I plan to return to my regularly scheduled blogging soon(sorry for the less than creative posts of recent). I have a quilt to finish and I am making time to do it!!!!!!!!

{It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like,... }

We managed to get our Christmas tree up during the long holiday weekend and this year is one of my favorites! I have a lot of Hallmark and handmade ornaments, but not enough to fill a whole tree, so I like to add the traditional balls that are festive, but match the living room decor. This tree is red silver and aqua, SO pretty!!

This ornament below was on my parents first Christmas tree and I LOVE it!
What do you think of the antique effect I used on the pictures above? (below is the tree in its original beauty) Does anyone else have their trees up?? Do share, I love to see how other families like to spread the holiday cheer in their homes!

{Lovely Delivery}

Soooo,... you remember this post of pretties??? I do, it's one of my favs!! Well,... you remember this blueberry fabric??? Yeah, it sold out. BUT i was able to snag up the STRAWBERRY fabric bundle!! How lucky am I!?!?!?!
Don't be jealous,.... you know you are. It's so pretty, I think I will just look at it for a while. I'm really not sure what to make with it just yet. I might just go ahead and make some of this fabulous garland. OR, I might just like this picnic-y quilt top so much, a patchwork quilt may be in order. OOOooohhh the possibilities!! Any ideas?? Suggestions?? I'd love to hear them! I am always interested in a new project!!
Thank you SO much to Miss Rosehip for the opportunity to buy this wonderful fabric!!!

{Sweet Summer Time Garland}

How stinkin cute are these?

I think I will be making these pretty little things (OR snagging one up from these fabulous Etsy shops!) to hang in my soon-to-be-art-studio! I think they are perfect!

Now, I just need to pop into rosehip and grab this Very Blueberry Fabric Bundle before anyone else does! (she only has one left!!! Hurry!!) She also has a beautiful blog that you can see here.

I hope everyone has safe holiday plans for Labor Day! My husband and I are Texas bound (waaaay early in the morning I might add!). My niece, Jocelyn, will be baptized this weekend and Tom and I are going to be the proud Godparents! How exciting! We are ready for some fun in the sun, lots of family, little feet running crazy through the house, and just being home. I am the youngest of three and the only girl! My big brothers both have two children. Matt is the oldest, he has two girls, Samantha (7) and Abby (4) and a very cool girlfriend, Holly. Jon is my other bro, he has Jonathan Jr. (1) and Jocelyn (5mo) and is married to Jessica. I MISS those crazy kids!!!!

{A New Box For Rebecca}

I made this wedding card box for Rebecca Hackl, the coordinator for my wedding in April. This was for an event she is having tomorrow (July 8). In an effort to encourage brides to "Go Green", her "Heirloom Vintage" event is based on the idea that brides can use heirloom items that they already own for decorations/centerpieces/display, etc. I absolutely LOVE this idea and while my card box is not genuine vintage or heirloom, it is hand made and looks kind of antique!

I am LOVING how my boxes are turning out with all the ribbons and crystals! I am pretty picky about the flowers I use. I don't like the SUPER fake looking flowers. These are all paper flowers and I LOVE the way these look, I am having a hard time finding good ones though. If anyone knows a good supplier for paper/silk/vintage/millinery flowers PLEASE let me know where!!
Here I "trickled" the crystals all the way down the side of the box,.. SO CUTE!

I think this is really my favorite box I have ever made!!! I can't wait to see pictures of it on display at Rebecca's Heirloom Vintage event!
